Our Lake of the Ozark vacation rentals are a terrific year-round destination for anglers. While it's best known for its bass fishing, the Lake is also home to many other species, including catfish, stripers, and crappie.
The fishing season begins in the early spring, when experienced fishermen can be found using jig lures, and deep water crankbaits. As the top water begins to warm, surfacing lures are used more often. The bass spawn in late spring, and the plastic worm takes over in popularity. While the lake does not feature many sunken trees or brush for fish to hide in, the multitude of piers and docks provide a nice habitat for white or striped bass.

White Bass fishing is truly an exciting sport at the Lake. Fishing reports indicate that during the early spring, experienced fisherman will often easily catch their 15-fish limit for the day. The White Bass will put up a fight, but are often worth it – they are simply delicious when pan-fried.
The Lake has no shortage of record-sized catches. Through effective stocking efforts and regulation by the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Lake's record catches have included a 134 lb. paddlefish, a 34 lb. drum, a 42 lb. muskie, and a 36 lb. buffalo.
